Motorola had 12-18 month product roadmap when purchased by Google

Earlier on Tuesday, we passed along to you the results of Google's Q4 earnings. Of course, when you think Google, you think Motorola and the latter hurt Google's bottom line by reporting an operating loss of $353 million dollars for the quarter. Google profited to the tune of $2.89 billion in the quarter. This could go on for some time according to Google Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette. During the fourth quarter earnings call, the executive repeated that when Google purchased Motorola, it inherited 12-18 months of products that were promised to buyers. Fulfilling this roadmap could continue to bring red ink Moto's way, but there really is nothing Google can do until all prior obligations are met. While Google has only had 6 months since closing the deal, it takes time for these charges to work through the system. The amount of red ink that Motorola produces is not large enough to affect Google's stock although Pichette says that Google aims to make money with Motorola. The upcoming Motorola X will be an important indication of what Google and Motorola can produce together. Motorola has made no secret that this will be the first Motorola phone that lets everyone know who Moto's daddy is.

The last time Motorola and Google worked so closely on a smartphone might have been the Motorola DROID which was the first Android model to launch with Android 2.0. You might recall that the OG Motorola DROID came with stock Android. The . To reiterate the speculation we passed along on Monday, the Motorola X is expected to be introduced at Google I/O in May. Speculation calls for a July 8th launch of the phone at a price of $299 on contract from Verizon while the model will also be offered unlocked and off-contract at the Google Play Store. The Motorola X will also be offered by other U.S. carriers.

Alleged Image of Samsung Galaxy S IV was up on Picasa for nearly a month

Suppose we told you that a press image of the Samsung Galaxy S IV has been available for you to look at for nearly a month? Seems crazy, right? Back on December 27th 2012, a student from Hong Kong with absolutely no connection to Samsung, posted the image of what is alleged to be the Samsung Galaxy S IV. The picture shows a phone with some subtle changes from the Samsung Galaxy S III including a less rounded top and bottom, a thinner bezel, and a larger screen and home button. Even the information listed with the picture on Picasa has what appears to be the correct information, as it names the phone the "Galaxy S IV GT-I9500 Product Image".

Earlier on Tuesday we told you that J.K. Shin said that the Samsung Galaxy S IV will not appear at MWC, and speculation centers on a U.S. hosted Samsung Unpacked event on March 22nd as the date when the sequel to the hot selling Samsung Galaxy S III will be introduced with a launch to commence in the middle of the following month.

The Samsung Galaxy S IV is allegedly the GT-I9500 with Samsung skipping the GT-I9400 model designation since the number "4" is considered to be bad luck in Korea. The device is currently going by the code name of Altius (J), will supposedly have a 2600mAh battery and wireless charging capabilities. That goes with the expected 5 inch Super AMOLED FHD screen, Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor and a 13MP camera. Let the drooling commence.

First BlackBerry 10 smartphones to be released a month after the platform's announcement

Yep, it's like having a ferrari to go to work around the corner, it's just too much.

Dual-Cores is the standard, they should make duals since their devices wont require much power (I believe).

Anyway, they should keep up with the competition, they should make business AND casual/geek/whatever phones.

business phones who doesn't require much camera mp, should be like 3.2mp with lower screen resolution and casual/geek/whatever phones, should have at least 8mp with 1080p screen resolution. Something like that.

Skype offering free unlimited calling for a month

Skype-to-Skype calls have always been free, but not Skype credits, which allows users to make Skype-to-landline or Skype-to-wireless calls. Depending on where you are calling, or whether it is landline or wireless, the cost can work out to a fraction of what you might pay through traditional service providers.

Now, Skype is offering a month of unlimited calling to mobile devices and landline locations. It can be contacts, or people not in your contact list, just use the dialer.

Is there a catch? Arguably yes. It is called “fine print” and here is what you need to know:

The fair usage policy still applies, so you cannot burn up talk time on an overly gratuitous level and obviously, premium and satellite numbers are not eligible. You must claim your free month by NOVEMBER 15 (that's tomorrow), and must have been an existing Skype customer for at least the past month. You also have to provide payment details in case you continue to use these otherwise paid services past the promotion period.
The offer is not available to customers in Russia, China, Taiwan or Korea.Only certain destination countries are part of the promotion. For calls to wireless and landline destinations, you may call numbers in: Canada, Guam, Hong Kong S.A.R. China, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Thailand and United States. For these countries, you may call landlines only: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg only), Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and Venezuela.
It is kind of odd that we can call Russia, Korea, China and Taiwan, yet they cannot be part of the promotion.  Either way, it is a nice little treat to pick up and get in touch with some folks before the holidays.

To claim your month, just click the source link below.
