Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.

Verizon announces new LTE markets to be live on December 20th

Like we noted last month, Verizon has all the major market service areas covered with its speedy LTE network, so these updates are covering areas that most people do not know about, even people that live in those states.

We are going to miss seeing these regular monthly updates from “Big Red” after the LTE network rollout is complete next year.  Sure, we will have regular updates from the other carriers as they catch up over the next several years, but we would not be surprised if Verizon was on track to start rolling out LTE-Advanced by the time the other players are done catching up to deploy LTE.

Subscribers in these Rocky Mountain and northwestern areas have a new network coming their way on December 20th:

Lamar and La Junta, Colorado, which are in the southeast part of the state, east of Pueblo.Price and Richfield, Utah, located in the central area of the state, south of Provo.Jackson Hole, Teton Village, Kemmerer and Pinedale, Wyoming, all in the western part of the state, home to some of the best skiing and most beautiful scenery in the world.Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Sequim, Washington, in the northern shore of the state, along the Strait of Juan de Fuca which comprises part of the border with Canada.Kennewick, Pasco and Richland, Washington, which lie on the opposite corner from Port Townsend, southeast Washington, bordering Oregon.Klamath Falls and Roseburg, Oregon. Roseburg is along the Interstate-5 corridor and Klamath Falls is nestled in the south-central part of the state, close to northern California.
We hope you enjoyed the geography lesson, and we hope you enjoy the new LTE coverage coming your way.

Verizon announces the Samsung Galaxy Camera, available Dec. 13th

We suspected Big Red would be picking up this Android powered camera, based solely on documents revealed by the FCC. Hundreds of components make their way to the regulatory body even though there may be no plans to introduce those products in the US.

One month after AT&T announced availability of the Samsung Galaxy Camera, Verizon has is following suit with an LTE enabled version of the device. It features the same specifications, 16MP camera with a 21x optical zoom, powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rounding up the most notable items. Outside of that, the Google Play store is available and this camera will do just about everything, except make phone calls.

Verizon will have the Samsung Galaxy Camera available to order online December 13th for $549.99. It will be available in white and an exclusive “Cobalt Black” color. Adding the camera to a Share Everything plan is being promoted for only $5 per month. The color choice is nice and ability to share it with your data plan is convenient, but the price is $50 more than what AT&T is charging, and we have seen even lower prices on other sites for limited periods of time.

No doubt it is a nice device.  If you are on the fence, check out our hands-on video and let us know if the Samsung Galaxy Camera is on your list this winter.

Pixntell Announces New Digital Storytelling App

Austin, Texas – pixntell 1.1.2 is a free app that allows users to create personalized photo sharing slideshows using their own photos, voice and text. pixntell is for anyone looking for a quick platform to make digital storybooks or videos on their iPhone or iPad.

What differentiates pixntell from other photo sharing applications is its user friendly interface. Following prompts, users can create compelling stories in under a minute. You can choose from your photo library or take photos as you go. Once the photos are loaded, you can drag and drop your pictures in the order you want. The audio function allows you to record at your own pace, swiping through your photos as you speak. An in-app upgrade even allows you to add text with custom fonts and backgrounds. Once you are finished, you can immediately share your pixntell to Facebook, youtube, or by email.

pixntell can be used by anyone. Teachers can use pixntell to reinforce reading and language skills by letting students narrate their own digital book. Businesses can use pixntell to create instantaneous “in the field” training videos without paying high production costs. Grandkids can create thank-you e-cards in their own voice for out-of-town grandparents to enjoy again and again. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination! According to co-creator Barry Crutchfield, “Getting our special moments on camera, like when my 6 year old rode his big boy bike for the first time, and capturing the exhilaration in his voice describing the moment – that’s what inspired us to create pixntell. Because 45 seconds is gone in the blink of an eye, but the pixntell memory is forever.”

pixntell is available on iTunes and is translated into 14 different languages, facilitating its use worldwide. The basic version is free, and allows you to load 5 pictures per slideshow. The full version lets you use an unlimited number of photos in a slideshow and is a .99 cent upgrade. pixntell Pro, the text upgrade, is also .99 cents. pixntell has already submitted an upgrade to link your pixntell to Dropbox and to create HD pixntells.
