Leaked photo shows Android 4.2.2 update rolling out to Nexus devices

An image showing the Android 4.2.2 update has surfaced, thanks to a user on Reddit. We’ve known for sometime now that Google was testing the update, and that it would be hitting Nexus devices in mid-February. The new software supposedly addresses a pesky Bluetooth streaming issue with other pressing matters, such as security enhancements, device performance, minor cosmetic changes and more bug fixes.

Of course, to no ones surprise, Android 4.2.2 looks to be rolling out to carrier-unlocked Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 smartphones, as well as the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets.

Let us know if you’re seeing the update on your Nexus.

Miami, Florida – Madbits, experts in human interfaces for the visual world, today announced the availability of its new iPhone photo app Momentsia 1.0. The photo app to trump all photo apps, Momentsia’s simple-to-use features are designed to let creativity flow naturally, allowing iPhoneographers to artfully express their experience through beautiful collage compilations. Jazz 1.3 for iOS – Photo Editor Creates Infinite Styles of Your Photos

Los Angeles, California – GG Filmz today is pleased to announce Jazz 1.3 for iOS, an update to their powerful photo editor that easily generates a limitless number of looks for your photos. Developed by award-winning visual effects director, Ray Giarratana, Jazz improvises on any photo, offering four new interpretations at a time, at the touch of a button. With its 17 powerful filters, users can tweak any image-processed photo to achieve nearly any desired look, save their own style presets, quickly compare examples of before and after, and share or save photos. With complete editing, powerful filters, effects, and unlimited vintage & retro looks and styles, Jazz is perfect for posting to Instagram, Facebook, tumblr, and Twitter.

Jazz is an infinitely flexible image processor/photo editor app that offers completely automatic and manual control of 17 artistic photo filters. Unlike other photo apps, Jazz has a huge range of possible looks and styles from extreme grunge and psychedelic effects, to clean and sophisticated. Jazz easily appeals to beginning photo editors as well as power users thanks to its two modes of operation: Quartet mode for quick, endless looks; and Solo mode for detailed tweaking.

Feature Highlights:
* Powerful random style generator offers endless possibilities
* Looks can range from clean and sophisticated to grungy or vintage…and anything in-between
* Upload to Facebook, Twitter, and tumblr with a simple touch
* Save your own styles as presets to use again later
* Complete rotate, crop, and image processing capabilities (new crop ratio presets)
* Swipe down to expand photo to full screen, tap twice to apply a Style preset, tap three times to view the original photo
* Style history lets users go back to any random look that Jazz showed them
* 17 professional grade, image processing filters, including Film Treatment, Vignette, Bloom, Color Balance, and Spot Focus; plus some really cool creative filters like Plastic & Glass, Lens Flare, and Dirt, Grunge & Schmutz
* Exif & GPS metadata is saved throughout
* Nothing else to buy – it just works
* Rated 4.5 stars on the U.S. App Store

In Quartet mode, Jazz generates four different filtered versions of any photo shot live or opened from the Photo Library. Displayed in a 2×2 grid in portrait or landscape orientation, the four looks are the result of random combinations of filters at various settings and intensities. Touch any version and Jazz takes you to Solo mode where you can save it, share it, and/or tweak it. Touching the G-clef icon in the top tab bar generates four more completely different looks. Users can swipe left or right to move forward and backward between four-photo pages. There is no limit to the number of times a user can employ the random style generator by touching the icon.

In Solo mode, Jazz users gain complete access to a scrolling collection of 17 image filters and effects, each with various controls and options. Individual filters have on/off switches and disclosure icons to expand the filter window. All slider and selector controls function intuitively, and as results are almost immediate, even novices should be transforming ordinary shots into memorable photos within minutes of first trying the app.

New in version 1.3:
* Awesome new Lens Flare filter (control Hot Spot size and style, Element size and style, plus x and y offset)
* Updated Light Leakage filter with 11 different styles
* Send your Jazz-ed image directly to Instagram
* Updated Share menu
* Save to Photo Album MUCH faster
* Turn off all filters quickly (double-tap image)
* Lots of speedups and optimizations

Jazz also comes with 16 different style presets, each named after a jazz style or musician (e.g., Chick, Coltrane, Bebop, or Fusion). Once loaded, the style is applied to the open photo, and users can go directly to save, or adjust any of the 17 different filters. Style presets are a great starting point from which to move toward a desired look.

17 Powerful Filters:
* Film Treatment – tweaks the colors to imitate various film developing techniques (10 filter presets)
* Color Balance – pushes orange or blue (warmer/cooler), and green or purple
* Exposure – adjusts exposure similar to changing f-stop on a camera
* Brightness & Contrast – overall brightness and more or less contrast
* Tones – adjust highlights, midtones, and shadows individually
* Color – controls color saturation, plus separate skin tones, blue skies, and greenery
* Tint – pushes the image toward a specific color
* Sharpen – continuously variable sharpness and radius (newest addition)
* Sepia – creates an antique look
* Focus – Spot Focus mode leaves the center sharp and blurs the rest, while the new Tilt shift mode blurs along a plane, similar to miniature photography
* Bloom – adds a glow around the brightest parts of the image
* NEW Lens Flare – adds a lens flare anywhere with many different styles
* Plastic & Glass – simulates looking through colorizing plastic lenses and/or filters (10 filter presets including gradients)
* Vignette – darkens the outer edges of the photo
* Light Leakage – simulates light leaking through the bellows of a portrait camera
* Dirt, Grunge & Schmutz – a variety of grain, dirt, and distortions (12 filter presets)
* Border – snapshot borders including Polaroid, film negative, glass, and torn paper (28 filter presets)

“If you know the look you want, Jazz’s 17 powerful filters can get you there easily and intuitively,” commented Ray Giarratana of GG Filmz. “But the real fun comes when you’re not sure about the look you want. That’s where Jazz shines. At the touch of a button, Jazz can improvise an unlimited number of unique looks and styles to inspire your own creativity. Why use a photo filter or effect that you cannot control?”

Language Support:

Photo Sharing App Makes People Think Before They Post with 1 Post a Day

London, United Kingdom – Today’s Social Networks offer an unfiltered environment where users can post and share an unlimited amount of memories and thoughts to an infinite amount of connections. This mass creates a noise, which makes it hard to connect to those members you really care about. This often leaves us sorting through system-filtered posts to help us find those that are most meaningful. It is no wonder then, that despite social app time growing 76% from last year much of the sentiment after participating in social media was “overwhelmed”, “anxious” and “wasted time” according to the 2012 Social Report by Nielson.

PicIT24 1.0 was created to simplify sharing by increasing the quality of posted memories by limiting the number of posts members can share to only one photo or quote within a 24-hour period. The goal of the app is to make people think before posting by having them consider one question, “If I could only share one thing today, what would that be?”

“Essentially PicIT24 helps to solve how overloaded and disenchanted users are getting with social sharing by pushing the curation of content back to the users. Rather than having users share en masse and have the system use its algorithm to select what to share to their community, PicIT24 members are now in complete control of the one thing they want their followers to see that day.” Says PicIT24 Founder, Fred Sachs.

“Too much choice leads to indecision, and so, paralyzed, we expose our followers to overwhelming amounts of poorly chosen content. In turn they struggle to keep up, understand and appreciate what we have to say. We believe a lack of content selectivity is counterproductive to your audience. To address these issues PicIT24 was created.” he adds.

On top of increasing the meaningfulness of posts, PicIT24 also allows for creation of groups to make it even easier to keep in touch with selections of followers. Allowing members to stay in touch with larger networks in shorter time frames.

In addition, the profile page allows for a unique content to time association, with every day representing an item of content. Members can also easily filter through posts by tapping on a location or filtering by calendar date.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5, iPod touch (3rd/4th/5th generation), and iPad
* Requires iOS 4.3 or later
* 3.1 MB

Pricing and Availability:
PicIT24 1.0 is free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Photo & Video category. Members can also login to the PicIT24 website to view and share memories.

PicIT24 was created to quiet the noise created from oversharing on a growing amount of social networks. Our goal was to reduce the volume of sharing and create a quality-focused network where only the most memorable moments are captured. As a result we created PicIT24, a social sharing app and website where only one moment (photo or quote) can be shared within a 24 hour time period. For us, less is more. Copyright (C) 2012 PicIT24. Padgram 3.0 for iPad: Powerful Instagram Viewer is U.S. Top 15 Photo App

Wuhan, China – Pinssible Labs today is pleased to announce Padgram – Instagram Viewer for iPad 3.0, a major update to its photo app, which has become the preferred Instagram viewer for iPad. Listed in the Top 25 Photo & Video apps in the U.S. App Store, Padgram offers fast and simple tagging, browsing, and interaction with other users for a better social experience, plus spam-free Shoutouts. The update includes support for both portrait and landscape orientation and browsing by category as well as popularity, including: Nature, Pets, Girls, Kids, Food, Fashion, Cars, and Architecture.

The most important new feature in this update of Padgram is a redesigned browsing system based on categories in addition to popularity. Although browsing based on number of followers is common in Instagram and Instagram viewers, results are often skewed towards celebrities and businesses. Instead of browsing the most popular photos, users instead are browsing the photos of the most popular people or companies posting photos. With the addition of browsing by categories, Padgram can now more accurately reflect the interest in photos posted by a broad spectrum of typical Instagram users. Each category contains 100 users of the service, chosen by experts at Padgram. Users can contact Padgram to apply for inclusion in a category, and new categories will be added over time.

Previous versions of Padgram included support for operation in landscape orientation only. Receiving many user requests for the addition of portrait orientation, version 3.0 now incorporates this feature. Portrait mode is particularly valuable for iPad mini users, who typically hold their iDevice in portrait orientation.

Padgram Feature Highlights:

Beautiful Layout and Blistering Speed
* NEW support for both portrait and landscape orientation
* Optimized for Retina display
* Stacked layout makes it easy to return to where you were
* Named “the fastest Instagram iPad app” by users

Padgram 3.0 augments the social experience of Instagram viewing on the iPad. The user is presented with a grid of photos in whichever group he or she searches, whether it be Followed, Subscriptions, Likes, or Popular photos. The grid uses the entirety of the iPad’s large screen, allowing for clear and vivid shots of each picture sized reasonably. To view just one picture, the user simply taps on the desired photo. A screen will then slide over, showing the photo’s description, comments, and likes.

Here, the user is able to comment with just one tap on the “Add Comments” space. Along with the keyboard, Padgram also offers easy symbol use, so the user does not have to switch keyboards to add a common “at” symbol, hashtag, emoticon, etc. While a custom hashtag symbol on its own is available, the app also offers suggestions for popular tags.

Padgram’s Searched feature is especially advanced in its suggestion technology. The app retains the user’s searches, so that a user returning for the same search does not have to retype. The search feature also offers intelligent suggestions for user names or tags as users type, so they may choose one with just one simple click.

Sharing photos is easy with Padgram; it allows users to save and send pictures to email as well as the popular social networking sites Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Pocket, and Sina Weibo. The user’s favorite pictures can be easily printed and sent as postcards.

The Promote (Shoutout) button selects six random photos a member has posted, and the app creates a visually pleasing collage. There are three photos in the top row and three in the bottom row, and each photo is tilted slightly, each overlapping two adjacent photos just a bit. This sophisticated design presents a sampling of the member’s tastes and interests, and serves as a stylish image that is ideal for giving or requesting a Shoutout.

“We are always trying to be responsive to Padgram users’ requests for new features,” commented Paul Yan of Pinssible. “Support for portrait orientation and browsing by categories represent a major step in the evolution of Padgram.”

Language Support:

The photo filters you use tell us all about you

Filters are getting their 15 minutes of fame thanks to some updates made by three photo-sharing and social network sites. First, Instagram recently updated its site, welcoming another photo filter (Willow) into the fold. Then, as rumored, Twitter announced the addition of 8 photo filters available for its users. And on  Wednesday, Flickr announced a highly regarded redesign of its Apple iPhone app that adds 16 photo filters for users.

So which of these filters do you use the most? All Things D posted an unscientific and comedic chart showing what the use of particular filters says about you. For example, those who prefer to use a Tilt-Shift filter to show a depth of field in their pictures think that they are "bigger than everyone else," while those choosing a black and white filter have "the vision of a dog."

Don't be offended or take it seriously. It does show you how popular filters have become, however. Hmmm. Wonder if anyone has a patent on them.

Startup Launches Cutting Edge Photo App, Wrap Digital Images Like Cloth!

Kolkata, India – Computer Vision startup, Techbla has released a new photo editing app named Wrapcam 1.01. As the name implies, the app allows the user to wrap or roll digital photos just like one rolls paper or cloth. This allows images to take varied shapes which literally makes the photo look like pieces of cloth in color. In order for this to be done the team at TechBLA has developed a new algorithm which allows the user to access the pixels of the image directly and change them into whatever shape and form possible. In some cases even the structure of the photo can be changed as well, all of this just by the swipe of a finger.

The Developers have provided a rich set of tools such as filters, color, lights and frame effects to enhance the quality of the app. As per Pranav Agarwal (CEO & Founder) who has stated that they have created an app where everything has been redeveloped from grounds up.

In the words of the CEO, “The 21 filters given in the app are unique and many of the effects have been introduced for the first time in the market. The best part is the ability to create customized filter effects by combining one filter on top of an another which literally allows thousands of new customized combinations to be made.”

As per company sources, this very philosophy has been used for development of all the features and particular attention has been given to make the app very easy to use. “You can just use one finger to create your photo art,” commented Madhurima lead designer for the app.

The developers have provided a rich set of text, visual and video instructions which allows one to learn to use the app with ease. The app is available on the iPhone/iPod and is specially been optimized for iPhone 5/iPod 5.

The developers have reported that future upgrades are in testing and will be released shortly and an iPad and Android version are in development as well which will be out in the market very soon.
